A Day of Pride and Patriotism: Independence Day at Radiant International School, Sonapur
Celebrating India's freedom through patriotism, participation, cultural expression, and meaningful learning.
Flag Hoisting Ceremony
The celebrations began with the formal flag hoisting ceremony, graced by Dr. Prashanna Gogoi as Chief Guest, alongside Principal Mr. Ranjit RoyChoudhury and the school's teaching staff.
As the national tricolour was unfurled against the morning sky, students joined together in singing the national anthem, filling the campus with a shared sense of pride and unity. The ceremony set a reflective, patriotic tone for the rest of the day's proceedings.
Address by the Chief Guest and Principal
Following the flag hoisting, Dr. Prashanna Gogoi addressed the school assembly, speaking on the significance of the day and the responsibility of today's students in carrying forward the ideals of the freedom movement.
Principal Mr. Ranjit RoyChoudhury also shared a few words with students, reflecting on the role Radiant International School plays in shaping informed and responsible young citizens.
Students were encouraged to see patriotism not just as a sentiment, but as something practiced through discipline, honesty, responsibility, and service.
Cultural Programme
The formal proceedings were followed by a cultural programme where students presented performances reflecting the spirit of the occasion, including patriotic songs, dance, and short presentations prepared especially for the day.
The programme gave students across grade levels an opportunity to actively participate in and celebrate the occasion, rather than simply observe it.
Why We Celebrate This Way
At Radiant International School, we treat national days not as holidays from learning, but as extensions of it.
Independence Day gives our students in Sonapur, Kamrup, and the greater Guwahati region a chance to connect classroom lessons on history and civics with lived experience through performance, participation, and reflection.
Looking Ahead
As the celebrations concluded, students returned to their regular routines with a renewed sense of pride and, for many, memories they will carry well beyond the school gates. Radiant International School extends its gratitude to Dr. Prashanna Gogoi for gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, and to all students, teachers, and parents who made the day a meaningful one. We look forward to our next school event and invite parents to follow our social media pages for regular updates from campus life.
